Palian Manufacturing recently completed an industrial pallet racking installation at Crusader Logistics DC No 1. This state-of-the-art system is designed to optimize warehouse space utilization and streamline operations.

Adjustable Pallet Racking (APR): Flexibility and Adaptability

The core of this installation is an Adjustable Pallet Racking (APR) system. APR is a highly versatile solution that can be easily modified and extended to meet changing needs. It provides total control over palletized stock and is capable of storing large quantities of items of varying weights and volumes. This flexibility makes it an ideal choice for warehouses with diverse and frequently changing inventory.

Enhancing Safety and Efficiency

Several accessories and features have been incorporated to enhance the system’s safety and efficiency:

• Upright Frames: The sturdy blue vertical elements provide the necessary height for the racking system.
• Load Beams: Orange horizontal bars, also known as cross beams, support the weight of the pallets.
• Pallet Supports: Additional metal bars run between the beams on each level, offering extra support for the pallets.
• Wire Mesh Decks: Some levels feature wire decking, which helps distribute the load evenly and prevents smaller items from falling through the cracks.
• Row Spacers: Although not distinctly visible in the image, row spacers are likely present to maintain consistent and straight rows of racking.
• Rack Protectors: Bright yellow column protectors at the base of the uprights serve as a defense against potential forklift impacts.
• Load Notices: Each rack or shelf may have labels indicating its maximum load capacity, ensuring safe use of the system.

Optimizing Space Utilization

The APR system optimizes the use of warehouse space. The most common configuration involves multi-position storage with 2-4 pallets per bay, which is a standard solution for pallets. The aisle width is suitable for standard pallet trucks or electric lift trucks, ensuring efficient material handling.
